It was fun making a period movie with Ashley Greene, Shiloh Fernandez, and Anthony Burns. Tony wanted Skateland to look as if it were actually filmed in the 80s, only using today's best lenses and film stocks.
For the colors of the film, we looked at photos of the era by Stephen Shore, William Eggleston, and Wim Wenders. We even pulled a few colors using Photoshop's eyedropper tool to help create out color palette. Since we weren't planning to use any filters or special effects to create the vintage look, everything from the sets, wardrobe, locations, down to the hair and makeup would fit into this color range.
Production Designer Chris Stull and his team killed it.
Going to Sundance with the film was a thrill we never expected.
